After reading THIS BLOG I decided that we would talk about Thanksgiving and what exactly it means to be thankful for something too. It sounded like a great idea to do with toddlers and I was SURE I would get some pretty hilarious responses, especially from Addie....she didn't disappoint!
Addie is thankful for: Trick or Treat candy, Pretty colors, Hairy Bears, Mimi (Mia), Kar-wee (Aunt Karlie), Nanny (Nana), and pumpkin pie (which I might add, she tasted for the first time just the day before).
Notice who is missing from her list? Oh yeah, that's right. FORGET about being thankful for her MOTHER! After all, I only gave birth to her, spend every day of my life taking care of her to the absolute BEST of my ability, freely give her hugs and kisses, make all "owies" better with a kiss and a band-aid, amongst COUNTLESS other things, but does that matter at all to my little diva?
Apparently not. She sure does love her Aunt Karlie and Nana though!
In all honestly, it didn't even occur to me that she left me off of her list until my brother asked why he didn't make the cut. I was about to excuse Addie's rudeness by explaining how she has only ever really been around her Uncle Brad a few times so she can hardly be expected to remember him over Aunt Karlie and Nana who she sees about once every month or so and then I realized, she sees me EVERY DAY OF HER LIFE and still managed to forget about Mama! LOL
However, Miss Mia loves me! Mama was the first thing she said when I asked her what SHE was thankful for.
Did I mention how unbelievably sweet my Mia is?
Mia was also thankful for Elmo and her Santa stocking. : ) She is pretty stinkin cute!
We had a very nice time in Mt. Vernon today. We had a smoked turkey and it was F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C! The best I ever had. The girls were on their BEST behavior up until we told them it was time to go and Addie, apparently, wasn't finished coloring with "the kid" (aka 5 year old Paul). But it wasn't too terrible, I've definitely seen worse. The girls were friendly with everyone and Addie even used the "real" potty which was nice. Usually she would rather "hold it" then go on a "real" potty so I was super proud of her when she used it all day today.
Addie was playing outside with Papa Lloyd and they found a dead rabbit and Addie told everyone all about the dead rabbit pretty much all day. She would randomly announce to the room that "The bunny is dead!". She also announced to the room every time she went potty and once even dropped her tights AND her panties in order to show everyone her "owie" on her leg right in the middle of lunch. Yep, that's my girl......
Mia LOVES puppy dogs now and followed Dee dee (Granny's maltese) and Rudy (Papa's dachshund) around all day. She got to sit at the big table at lunch and loves sweet potatoes and cream peas. She was SUPER good today, especially surprising since she didn't get a nap except what she sleep in the car. She was very snuggly, friendly and showed everyone her belly periodically throughout the day. : ) That's her favorite. She knows several body parts now but when you ask her to show you where they are you have to ask her where her belly is last because she will just keep patting her belly.
We are heading to Manhattan for the weekend and we may have some very exciting news to report back after Saturday.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
