My goodness! What a week!
Tuesday night after Addie had her bath, she broke out in HIVES! ALL over her little body! It was sorta scary because I had no idea what caused them. The one and only other time that has ever happened was when she was 7 months old and starting to pull up on things.....my little explorer pulled up on the couch when I left the room to get a drink and helped herself to my peanut butter toast! You don't give a 7 month old baby peanut butter! But this time, I have no idea what caused her to break out. She hadn't anything new to eat or anything, definitely did not have any peanut butter (we don't even keep any peanut products in our house) and we are still using the same body wash and laundry stuff so no clue! I called the parents of the little boys I watch and let them know that I would be taking Addie to the doctor in the morning if the hives hadn't gone away (I gave her benadryl and opted for watching her closely through out the night instead of being one of those moms who rushes their babies to the ER for nothing, we had been through hives before so I told myself to calm down and relax!).
So it was a sleepless night for me since I checked on Addie just about every hour.
Wednesday morning rolled around and Addie couldn't open her left eye and her right eye was "gunky". Geesh. Seriously?
And it gets worse....Mia had gunky eyes too AND was puking. Not spitting up. Puking. A lot. Great.
So off to the doctor we go. The earliest appointment they had was at 10:50am and the verdict?
PINK EYE.
No joke.
No fun.
So after their appointment (Addie weighs 21lbs 12oz and Mia weighs a mere 13lbs by the way) we headed off to walmart to pick up their prescription for eye drops. Oh joy! I can't even put eye drops into my own eyes and here I was instructed to torture my babies twice a day with them?
It was a very sad day.
Luckily it only lasted a day. Oh, I still have to put eye drops in their eyes twice a day until next wednesday but at least the eye gunkiness, hives and vomiting has ceased. They are getting better about the eye drops too, Mia more so than Addie but I am not surprised....Mia is way more laid back than Addie has EVER been!
In other news, Addie is on this new sunglasses kick. She wants to wear them constantly, indoors and out. She wore them the whole time we were at the doctors office, in walmart, pretty much she wears them all day every day. And DADDY BROKE THEM!!! Yep, he stood on them yesterday. Addie seriously cried from devastation. It was the saddest thing I have ever seen. It wasn't a temper tantrum, they were tears of true sadness like someone had hurt her feelings or something. She just had silent tears rolling down her little rosey cheeks.
So naturally, we just HAD to get her some new ones. I let her pick them out and they are as Hollywood as an almost two year old can get. Big white frames with silver stars on the parts that go behind your ears (whatever its called...) and the lenses are PINK. Oh yes, she is her mother's child!
We have been listening to a cd that Gramie made for Addie last year. It's pretty entertaining. One of the songs says "Do the pony" as in the dance the pony but every time Addie hears "pony" she runs to her room and grabs her gigantic pink my little pony and rides it in the living room. She loves "We are the dinosaurs" too! She is very animated and such a coordinated little dancer.
Mia has her 6 month check up on monday. I am excited to get her official weight and length and to tell her doctor that she is CRAWLING. Oh yes, she is definitely mobile. It's pretty precious. She is so cuddly and sweet. I just adore my sweet baby so much. She is always giving kisses and wants to play with her big sister so bad! Its so sweet to watch them play together.
Makes me want to have 10 more just like them!
Ok, so maybe not : )

Pink eye is NO fun! I used to get it frequently when I was still teaching toddler and preschoolers! Glad to hear the puking and eye gunkies have gone away!
