Mia's 6 month check up

Mia had her 6 month check up yesterday and she was such a brave little soldier! She had to get 3 shots and had her blood drawn as well and everyone was really impressed by how well she handled it. She barely even cried. All I had to do was pick her up and she immediately stopped crying. She is such a trooper!
She weighs 13lbs 10oz and is nearly 27 inches long! So she is in the 10th percentile for weight and 75th for height. Addie was the same until she turned 9 months and started walking…then she dropped below the 5th percentile for weight and after her one year mark she started gradually slowing down her height as well. As of 18 months Addie was only in the 25th percentile for height so I think they must hit a good growth spurt pretty early and then eventually slow down their upward growth. Which is fine by me, I don’t want them to be a WHOLE lot taller than me! : )
Mia is definitely a mover and a shaker. She is extremely active. She can wave now, can sit up on her own for longer periods of time and is moving all over the place in her own version of crawling (sorta like army crawling but different, there is a worm-like twist to it…it’s hard to describe. I have been trying to get a good video of her crawling but every time she sees the camera she immediately stops what she is doing and poses so it’s been difficult!).
She has mastered the sippy cup and is on solids 2-3 times a day. She still prefers her veggies over her fruits and doesn’t seem too fond of oatmeal baby cereal so I usually have to mix it was something else.
She is still one of the sweetest, most content babies I have ever been around. She is a very happy girl!
While we were there, I had her nurse practitioner see if they had her blood type on record because they never told me what hers was. So she looked up Mia’s records and asked me if Mia was sick when she was born.
Umm….what?
I told Stephanie that Mia was extremely healthy and that we were both discharged after 24 hours (I mean for goodness sake! I WALKED to my postpartum room after I delivered Mia) Then I remembered that AWFUL nurse who upon being told that we had been discharged and were scheduled to leave soon decided that that wasn’t going to happen so she informed me that Mia looked severely jaundice even though NO ONE else had said she was even a little bit yellow the WHOLE day. Apparently that EVIL nurse did a TON of unnecessary SERIOUS tests on my itty bitty teeny tiny newborn baby. The verdict? Not even slightly jaundice. What the crap?!? I seriously had no idea that that nurse did horrible things to my baby. I am in total shock. I wish I remembered that wretched woman’s name. I would SOOOOOOOOOOO place a formal complaint. Not sure what good it will do 6 months later but still. I am not a happy camper. I remember being irritated that the nurse was raising such a stink about us leaving early but eventually she “let” us go (not that she had much say since both of our doctors had already discharged us) but I can not believe that she performed all of those procedures without informing me. That just seems so wrong, don’t you think?
Well, my sweet, brave baby is giving me kisses trying to win back my attention…better go give her kisses back!
