Day 2 in the House of Puke

Day 2 in The House of Puke
Monday night around midnight (so I guess technically that would be Tuesday morning?) Addie woke up puking her guts up. No fun. She continued throwing up about once an hour for the rest of the night. When she woke up Tuesday morning she seemed really out of it. All she wanted to do was lay down which is not normal behavior for my little diva at all. Zach called in sick Tuesday (same thing as Addie) and at this point we thought it was something that they ate.
He went to the store and got Addie some Pedialyte after she projectile vomited twice all over the couch and me.
When Zach got home, I just gave her a sippy cup of the Pedialyte and asked her to take a drink of it every so often. She didn’t want to try to eat anything. No matter what I offered her she would just tell me “no” and turn her head away. I just kept having her drink her “juice”. After her morning projectile vomiting incident, she didn’t throw up again the whole day so I thought we may be in the clear. I offered her snack, didn’t want anything. Offered her dinner, didn’t want anything. All she wanted to do was drink her “juice”. She didn’t get sick the whole night so this morning I asked her what she wanted for breakfast. She said “chocolate milk” so I hesitantly gave her some milk and a cereal bar---BIG mistake. 15 minutes later she was puking again. I am guessing she has a stomach bug. So back to the diet of Pedialyte we go.
After she puked today I gave her a bath. She just sat there with her eyes closed. Something she NEVER does. Bath time is Addie’s favorite time of day. She loves to splash and “swim”. When I got her out, dried her off and got her into a long sleeve t-shirt, I made a bed up for her on the couch with her favorite blanket (I put a towel underneath--just in case!) and she has been laying there for the past hour. She is watching Sesame Street and every time a song comes on she wiggles her hand to dance since she is too weak to actually get up and dance. Such a sad sight!
She keeps asking for milk but I am not giving in. Its breaking my heart to see her crying for her milk but I know it will make her throw up again. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that Mia doesn’t start throwing up.
This would probably be my biggest complaint about watching kids. Parents don’t think twice about bringing their sick kids to my house, its like they don’t consider the fact that I have two little ones of my own. It seems like my kids have had a really rough winter. I suppose it would be just as bad if I took them to daycare and worked outside of my home.
Colds, ear infections, running noses, pink eye and now a stomach bug. I am soooo ready for this season to be over.

My sick "babies"

Oh Erica I'm so sorry to hear that Addie is so sick! I don't know if you read Parker's blog or not, but he had a NASTY stomach bug that sounds just like what Addie has! It was certainly no fun and I caught it too so wash and sanitize your hands a ton! I washed a ton but when you're thrown up on 8 times and have a sick baby sleeping on you for naps during the day, it's pretty much inevitable that you'll get sick too! Luckily mine only last 24 hours instead of 7 days like Parker's! Hope she feels better very soon and hang in there! I know it's heartbreaking to watch your "baby" be sick!! :(
