Swiper no Swiping!

As some of you may know, Addie is a bit of a story teller.  She makes up stories about things that happened to her "last night"  (example: 'Last night I was a cheerleader', 'Last night the bad guys came and tried to get me but Mia saved me', etc)
She also has a habit of getting into things that she shouldn't and misplacing them.....which she used to blame on Mia but now that Mia is old enough and vocal enough to contradict her, Addie has to blame someone else....

Like Swiper.

Apparently Swiper the Fox (from Dora the Explorer) has been visiting our house pretty frequently lately.
His first appearance occurred when I was working on Jack's stocking.  I hadn't sewn on Santa's mittens yet and so I laid them on the counter next to the stocking and when I came back to finish later, they were gone.  Addie had been messing with the stocking all day so of course, I knew it was probably her.  I asked her where the blue mittens were and she said she didn't know and that "Swiper took them".  I asked her again and again and each time she informed me that Swiper had taken the mittens.  So finally I asked her if she knew where Swiper put the mittens and she told me "in the garage"....lo and behold, the mittens were indeed in the garage.  Imagine that.
Yesterday the DVD remote control vanished and guess who Addie said took it??
Of course he did.
But every time we ask Addie where Swiper put the remote control she says the Christmas tree (oh, did I forget to mention that I am one of THOSE freaks who puts up her Christmas tree as soon as Walmart has their Christmas decorations out because I figure it's fair game? I didn't? Oops....Forget I said anything.....)

Unfortunately, we have searched that Christmas tree several times and have not had any luck finding the remote.

That sneaky fox must have hidden it somewhere good.....
