Mia's First Birthday--planning

I started planning Mia’s birthday this weekend. I already knew what the “theme” was going to be but I hadn’t thought much about it until just recently. Not because I didn’t WANT to be planning it already but rather I thought it might be a little silly to start planning 6 months in advance. But now Mia is 10 months so it’s a little more reasonable to start getting everything ready, right? I hope so! : )
Anywho, so the theme: I totally STOLE Emily’s idea! But I did ask permission first! She had the wonderful idea of doing a “You are my sunshine” theme and I fell in love with it. It’s perfect for Mia! I sing the song to her every morning when she wakes up and every evening before she goes to bed. She has brought so much joy to my life that she truly is a little ray of sunshine. So I asked Emily is she cared if I also used the idea. Emily is super nice and even sent me some websites and ideas. (Emily and I cheered together in high school by the way!)

I LOVE this so much that I have tried to incorporate it as much as possible! I think it is so cute!

SO here is what I have done so far:
I made 24 of these little squares with different pictures from Mia's first year. I am going to print them off, cut them out,hole punch them and with some pretty ribbon, tie them to the party favors. Underneath her picture it says "Thank you for brightening my birthday!"

Here is the "birth" picture, I also took one picture from each month and made them all look like this. I'm going to print these all off at walmart.com and have them all displayed at her party.

I've also made a list of all the decorations and food I want to get as well.
That’s a reasonable amount to do nearly 2 months in advance, right? Not too over the top? Good. : )
This weekend while Zach is working on Saturday I am going to venture over to Factory Card Outlet and Deals!, to look for some fun decorations. I want everything to be yellow, orange and white and I am going to accent everything with sunflowers and maybe some daisies too. I want TONS of balloons.

If I can find some in the colors I want, I wouldn’t mind re-creating one of the pictures Emily sent me of another Sunshine themed party that decorated with tulle and paper lanterns.

It’s Mia’s first birthday so going all out is definitely a must!
