Mia is 8 ½ months old now and is getting sooooo much fun! She plays peek-a-boo and patty-cake. She pulls up on everything and you can tell she is just itching to take off! She waves better than some one year olds I know! I have been gradually introducing table food to her. She only has 2 teeth so it’s been a slower process than with Addie (Addie had 6 by the time she was Mia’s age). I tend to feed her more solid foods and nurse less than I did with Addie in hopes that when it comes time to wean Miss Mia, she is more cooperative. She eats solids at breakfast, lunch and dinner…usually has 2,sometimes 3 snacks in between the regular meals and I am lucky if I can get her to nurse 3 times a day. The only time she consistently nurses is at 6:30am and 7pm. That is it. Sometimes she will nurse in between breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner but usually she wants whatever Addie is eating. Mia completely adores Addie. I think it gets on Addie’s nerves that Mia always wants to play with whatever toy she is (she sure does push her little sister a lot and tells her to “go away” so I am assuming here….but I am pretty sure I am right, that Addie has little patience for her little sister) but this hardly discourages Mia…she picks herself right up and gets back to bugging her big sister. : )
Ok, so on to Addie!
Like I said, Mia has been playing peek-a-boo. She uses a blanket to hide her head and she waits until you say “where is Mia?” and then she pulls it down and laughs as you say “peek-a-boo!”. Well, Addie noticed that we were playing this the other day so she went over to Mia and grabbed the blanket and said “My peek-a-boo” and proceeded to start playing the game herself. What a stinker she is! But now she is consistently calling her blanket “peek-a-boo” which I think is the funniest thing ever!
Her word count is rather impressive when I actually sit down and write it all down. She talks all the time. The best part is other people are starting to understand her much better.
Her new thing is to help me sort the laundry. When she sees something of hers or Mia’s she says “baby’s” and puts it in one pile. If she sees something of mine she says “mama’s” and puts it in my pile and does the same for Daddy’s clothes as well. Every time she sees Zach’s shoes, or jacket or car she points and says “Daddy’s shoes” or “Ddady’s car” etc…
She is quite the little actress as well. She loves the movie Cars (Disney Pixar) but at the beginning of the movie before the main menu comes on the letters THX are on the screen and this weird noise….hard to explain…anyway, every time she sees the THX she runs over to me or Zach and buries her head while that weird noise is on like she is scared to death….BUT if you look down at her hidden face---she is SMIRKING! We were so worried about her the first time she ran scared but now that we know it’s all a game, we play along too. Now whenever the scary THX is on the tv she runs, hides, smirks and says “it’s scary” and then laughs!
She is also learning to be sneaky. My glider is next to the end table in our living room. I sit in the glider when I am reading and always have my drink on the table next to me. I’m not going to lie….I drink a lot of coke (or “coca” as Addie calls it). Addie LOVES “coca” (thanks to Daddy). So she sneaks behind my chair and steals my coke and drinks it while hiding behind the chair, sets it back on the table when she is done and then walks away like she is totally innocent. She will stand behind my chair, eyeing me from the corner of her eyes making sure I am not “paying attention” until she makes her move too! It’s soooooo funny! She has only been on this planet for a little under 2 years and already knows how to be sneaky! That just seems so wrong!
We are going to the Tulsa zoo for Mother’s Day next weekend! I told Zach that I want to go to the zoo every year on Mother’s Day so that is our tradition. Last year we went to the Springfield zoo…it was ok but Tulsa is way better so I am really excited and I hope the weather is nice. It will be the first time for Mia since she was about a month old so she should really enjoy it this time (she slept the entire time last time we went) and Addie LOVES the zoo but it will be even more fun now that she has favorite animal noises (lions and elephants). I am super excited!
I really wish Joplin had a zoo! I would sooo take the girls every weekend.
Well, that is all that is new around the Cope household. Hope everyone had a good weekend!
(Sorry about the lack of pictures! My batteries in my camera died so Zach is picking some up on his way home from drill! And then I promise to make up for the lack of new pictures of the girls....I may even throw in a video or 2! If you're lucky!)

Your girls sound like so much fun! It is neat that they have each other to learn from. Whenever we are around Joe's boy cousin's (around 10 years) they play with Will and he eats it up. I know he would LOVE to have a brother/sister as close to his age as Addie and Mia are but I want to be able to be home when we have anymore kids so we are waiting another year or so. It has killed me not to be able to be home all the time with Will.
