Last night Zach's baby (aka the Chevelle) was in the Webb City parade so after all the kids I watch during the day got picked up, the girls and I met him down there to ride with him. We had to sit in the car and wait for the parade to start for almost an hour. Which was pretty darn boring. Addie quickly fell asleep but Mia was wide awake. After playing peek-a-boo for nearly half an hour (I'll never understand how that game never gets old to little ones) Mia was starting to get a little fidgety so I got her out of her carseat to sit up front with us. She seemed to like it at first but when Zach turned the Chevelle back on to warm up the car a little bit Mia insisted on sitting in her carseat again. It was like she knew that's where she is supposed to sit while we are driving in the car and she didn't want to break the rules. Addie would have flat out refused to go back to her carseat after sitting up front with us. We would have had a full-blown 2 year out tantrum had it been Addie and not Mia.
Addie and Mia are very different little girls and that was proven also last night. You see, I sold the crib yesterday. It was a little sad but since we are moving, I wanted to get rid of as much of the big stuff that we don't need anymore so we didn't have to haul it up to Manhattan. Addie refuses to stay in the toddler bed all night so I have been letting Mia sleep in it during the day for her naps and earlier this week she started sleeping in the toddler bed at night. When we move, Addie will get a full size bed. Anyway, after the crib was gone, I moved the toddler bed over to Mia's side of the room and put Mia's bedding on it and told her that this was her big girl bed now and she got to sleep like a big girl all the time now. She was super excited of course, Addie on the otherhand...not so much! "Thats ADDIE'S bed!" she screamed at me as she ripped Mia's bedding from the bed. I explained how she never slept in the big girl bed so we were going to give the bed to Mia and Addie was going to get a big girl bed in Manhattan. "No! Thats Addie's bed" and that went on and on and on until finally she got distracted by the fact that we were going to see Daddy.
We went to the parade and the girls were waving to all the people we drove past though since they were in their carseats, I'm not sure how many people actually saw them but I enjoyed their cuteness. We got home pretty late and the girls were pretty exhausted. Addie fell asleep on the couch (which isn't entirely unusual for her) and Mia went to bed in her big girl bed like the big girl that she is. Mia woke up around 5ish when Daddy was getting ready for work so I let her get in to bed with us thinking she could snuggle until it was time to get up at 6:30. Well, another BIG difference between the girls: Mia refuses to sleep anywhere but her own bed. Addie insists on sleeping with us every single night. So I took Mia back to her room and laid her down in her bed where she instantly fell back to sleep. I woke up this morning to find her fast asleep in the hallway. Silly girl. Addie would have come straight to our room as was her habit when I was able to convince her to go to sleep in her bed. Mia would rather sleep on the floor than climb into bed with Mommy!
